What is a fashion trend? And why does it matter? Should it even matter?

Changes - Here To Stay
Fashion comes and goes. Usually by the decade or half-a-decade, one can see a general look or style start to evolve on the streets. But why does this matter?
-1- Aesthetics & Group Behaviour
We all want to be part of a group or something bigger than ourselves. Fashion in clothing is one of the ways that we subconsiously look alike and thus feel like part of our group.
-2- Individuality
On the other end of the spectrum, we can use fashion to express our individuality. By knowing the trends and general look, we can do this (dress for ourselves) without losing touch with our environment completely.
Trends - How To Find Them
So now that you know the importance of trends or a certain new fashion look, how do you find them? Easy, look at the average 17 year old. No just kidding (but they do generally know what's coming in the next 3-4 years.) Just use your preffered medium, (T.V., books, social media) and keep an eye out for colors, silhouettes and types of clothing that are used. Then tie that in with your personal style, and voila, you have a look that is up-to-date and fun.
