It's 2016. I'm headed to work, on my usual train, and I think about my life. Leona's new album is playing in the background.
I Am (The Album)
Leona Lewis released her fourth studio album in september 2015 under her then new label Island Records. It's an album full of powerful and honest songs about her recent experiences both personally and professionally. It's about empowerment, moving on from situations that imploded, and just feeling good about who you are, even if life isn't so great at the moment.
What I Love About It
There are several songs on the album that stand out for me. Some for their lyrics, some for the way the song is built up and composed. Overall, it just lifts my spirits (till today) and it helped me through some dark times.
The Power Of Music
What I love about songs and the power of songwriting is that you can write something, apply it to your very own situation, but that it can mean something completely different for somebody else and still have the same impact (good or bad) that it did for you when you wrote the song. It's one of the main reasons that I started writing and sharing my work. I can't wait to see what kind of new perspectives that might bring me in the future once I start writing and sharing more.
Album Faves
Here are some of my favorite songs on this album:
3. You Knew Me When (lyrics)
4. I Am (lyrics and music)
10. Thank You (wonderful ballad)
11. Thick Skin (lyrics)
Now It's Your Turn
What is your favorite album at the moment? Why does it make you happy, sad or whatever lies in between? Let me know!
